Description
The pot of drinking water placed near the road is called Pinthalia Panthaliya to quench the thirst of travelers on the highway. The old people of that time believed that it was a high virtue to keep a cup of water to quench the thirst of travelers on the road and to fill it again with clean water when it was empty, and to keep a cup for drinking and another cup for drinking. This precious culture of placing a pot of drinking water to quench the thirst of pilgrims on the highway can be seen in Sri Lanka and Myanmar. rpt
